| Hello, this problem is related to one of the icons Win Menu is trying to display in the menu. You can try to open the Setup.exe file directly, and remove, or assign another icon to the specific icon Win Menu is having problems with.
If you are unable to guess/locate the correct menu item you can rename/delete settings.wmp to create a new configuration.
This problem typically accours if you assign an icon from a .exe file and then removes the .exe. |

| I'll try to address this issue in the next release. TextIt sends the url, to the windows api, and should, to my knowlage, open it in the default browser allready. Since it does not, I'll look for another solution. |

| I am very happy using textit because never saw before that "Detect URL's" in a text editor, and i have my default brawser running to the page i click. But what I would ask to add is a ctrl+U or something for deactivate it so you can highlight and right click to copy the url. But i am bitching just for placer because I can uncheck the item in Setup menu, so, thanks a lot for let me TextIt so easy. |

The history is stored in the registry key mentioned, but it should also be enough to open and safe a file elsewhere.
TextIt needs to start somewhere. Some always start in my documents, some start in "random" active windows directy, and some, like textit try to start where you last used it. |

Sven,
A great program, however although I can run it fine on a TS client which has Administrator rights, any other user gets error dialog "Winmenu cant find it's istallation directory (edit registry etc.)"
It may be to do with the "setup.exe" for which non-Admins have nor rights - or could be a registry thing.
Can you assist? |

| Yes, this is a design problem i Win Menu, it read's its installation path from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and tries to open it as read/write. A normal user do not have access to this. You could, as a workaround, open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Svenna\Win Menu 2000\ for none privilaged users. |

| Ask your administrator to set it up for you. I don't want to requment editing the registry, if your not confortable with the description given.
But your administrator have to give you read/write privilages to the Win Menu 2000 registry keys. |

| I'm not able to replicate this bug.
The font settings seem to save as they should with the rest of the settings.
Are you using auto save? Is this problem with all font settings, and with every font?
I've tested a few fonts, and changed every font settings, but I'm not able to replicate this behavior. |

| This might be an issu with the version if RichEdit that is shipped with Win95.
I don't have Windows 950B handy at the moment :(
so I'm unable to test it myself.
But are you saying that the edit field changes font when you select it (as it should) but is unable to set in on startup?. If this is the situation I should be able to remidy the problem in the upcomming 1.1 release (within 3 weeks). |

| I've tested some fonts, it makes only Fixedsys. I can't change the font to Fixedsys even the fontsettings in cfgfile are ok. The font won't change also while editing some text (in the notepad it's ok). In the settings dialog shows the font but editwindow shows still the old font |

| Then this is very likely a problem with the outdated version of RitchEd20.dll that ships with Win95. This is not a prioriteted issu to fix, unless it's reported on a Win98 system (or newer). |

| Copy & Paste Bug? | 2003-08-06 02:08:55 |
TextIt is a great editor, but recently I came across a problem that occurs on both versions that I have installed (1.0.11 & 1.0.12) and both versions run on Win98se and on a NT4 server:
After you select some text in TextIt, I rightclick on it and get the 'cut', 'copy' and 'paste' options. Then I click on 'copy', but the rightclick options don't go away. If I click a second time on 'copy' it goes away. Is this the normal behaviour that the options do not disappear after the first click? If yes, what is it good for? |

I like your tool, but i have a problem using it:
When i search a expression it happens quite often that i ctrl+c some text in a programm and then want to search this expression in an other program.
If i do this in the search function of text it, it copies the expression to the main window instead of the search window. it would be very nice if you could change this behavior.

I encountered something similar to this--I'm not sure it's the same things; so feel free to tell me. When I'm in TextIt, and I'm searching through a document, then I often want to paste something into the search bar; however, when I try that it pastes it into the main document, and I have to type out the entire line I want to search for. I would like to paste text into the search bar. Nice program, btw. Keep up the good work! |

Hi, I am quite impressed with TextIt. I wish it had more thorough information with it, explaining which the various drop down menu terms mean. For example, "Word Select," and I still can't figure out what "Show Selection Bar" means, though I notice a slight indention. Auto-Intend? Lastly, I wish there was an option NOT to show the Status Bar. Thank you for TextIt! |

Not a bug, but I'd just like to see a "Notepad mode." Like basically changing the interface to mirror Notepad's. Maybe hiding all the advanced features, or just adding an "Advanced" menu just to the right of Help. (Quick note, case law states that an interface cannot be copyrighted, I believe it is Borland v. Lotus, but not sure, other than the fact that Lotus was the defendant) |

| Ack, found something along the lines of a bug, the installer never asks whether or not to associate *.txt files with Text It. This is a big no-no for established extensions especially. This also prevents the user from knowing easily what kinds of files have been associated with the program. I have to sift through the uninstaller log to figure it out now... |
| | | Nemo |
| comment: | 2003-01-20 07:01:08 |
| Sorry for bombarding you with SMS/Email, but I've come across a very serious bug: The uninstallation file doesn't include the registry entries for associating *.txt (Maybe others? I have no way of finding out short of manually checking every file). If uninstalled, the user would be left with *.txt and [maybe] other unassociated file types. This is a serious oversight. Until any possible fix, could you post/email what file types are associated with TextIt on installation? I would like to use TextPad explicitly when I want, rather than as my default. |

| comment: | 2003-01-20 07:01:21 |
| I will most likelly never inklude a "notepad mode". It will be a step in the wrong direction, and if I should "hide" (make them harder to access) all the features, then why not use notepad :)
TextIt associates .txt files, nothing else |
| | | Svenna |
| comment: | 2003-01-20 08:01:12 |
| Alright, just a suggestion. I would say "Notpad Mode" would not necessarily be a step in the wrong direction, but it is a miniscule request anyway. I just happen to like the cleaner/more compact Notepad interface, the only problem I have with it is the 64k limit (and I'm not going to XP for that, heh) Otherwise, a great program. |

Hi there!
(This is not a bug report, only a quick comment).
I have had textit highly recommended, but when I
tryed to use it, it required installation. Could
you / would you produce a version which runs simply as an .exe file, on any win32 box, and
requires no installation? It would be very
usefull. (Most of the time I use computers that
do not belong to me and on which I don't want
to permanently install anything).

Hi & Thank you so much for providing this Super tool for our use.
I've been using TextIt for a little while and I love it. My newsletter is written in Verdana size 10. (10 being the setting on my mail). Sometimes when I copy/paste ads directly to my letter the font changes to the font that is used on the ad as I receive it. Then I have to change it. Using TextIt, I set the Font to Verdana Size 10 & The problem goes away.
But one thing I have had trouble with is after putting all of my Ads in T.I. When I copy/paste into my letter... It double spaces... For some unknown reason. Is it my letter I wonder or TextIt. :(
Other than that I'm very happy with your software. No crashes so far :)
One question is .... Is there a way to set a word wrap?
Thank you again

| Hi
I have since discovered that the double space thing what not caused by Text It but rather another program that I was using to get the words to hard wrap.. Sorry about that comment.
O.k. here's the deal. I did write to you and you did reply asking that I post this on here.
When I right click on a document in Textit and use either the copy or the paste function, it (the popup) does not go away until I click somewhere in the textit area. I know it's a little thing but it's just annoying sometimes.
Other then that I love this program...
Carolyn
P.S. Select all would be a great addition to the Popup on right click... AND hard wrap set to a certain number would make this program better then perfect :) It's close now.. Thank you again for sharing it with us. |

I've noticed that "wordwrap" button resets the clipboard when it's catched from TextIt. It doesn't occur when the content of the clipboard is captured from another program (i.e. Notepad).

Hi,
I've only used TextIt for a short while in win98, but i like it :) It looks smooth and has all the features i find lacking in Notepad.
So far, i've only found one problem: TextIt crashes (hard) when opening text files that are in use (e.g. log-files of a running program). It then gives an illegal operation, followed by an Application Error (Exception EFOpenError in module TEXTIT.EXE at 0001353F.), followed by an access violation, followed by some more errors.
Problem is, that these error messages never stop until you kill them using ctrl-alt-del.

This is an interesting bug that I came across while typing up a document in v1.0.11.193 and looking at which song was playing in Winamp. When the song name, etc. popped up, it obscured the status bar and left a "residue." After some more investigation, I determined that the "File" menu was actually what was being displayed! This seems to happen when any "tool-tip" style window appears over the status bar. Weird...
BTW, awesome program! It has replaced notepad forever! |

| Copy/Paste Features Not A | 2001-10-14 06:10:55 |
I recently installed TextIt v1.0.10.142 on a pc with Win98 SE and it worked like a dream :)
I installed the same program on a second pc which also has Win98 SE installed, and experienced a strange thing.
When opening the "readme.txt" file that came with the setup, I can highlight text and the copy & paste buttons become visible on the toolbar, and the choices become available on the menu.
However, if I open a brand new text file from within TextIt, and enter some text into the file, and then highlight some text, the copy and paste buttons do not appear on the toolbar, and the choices do not appear on the menu, and Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V keyboard shortcuts do not appear.
Have you or any users come across this?
Thanks again for a great program, if this can be solved, TextIt will replace Notepad on the second machine forever :) |

I enjoy TextIt's feature that allows clicking on URL links. But a problem occurs if the link is at the end of a file: not only is the link clickable, but the blank space after it and below it is also clickable. (This makes it hard to position the cursor at the end of the file.)
The problem disappears only if you terminate the file with two oe more CR's. |

| Although this bug is never found and fixed, I my self have not seen any more to it. There has not been any more report on this issue. I thereby state this bug as "history". |

| Font scribbling | 2001-05-03 23:19:44 |
I?ve noticed that when pasting from MS IE TextIt sometimes changes font on all or parts of the newly pasted text.
comment: I?ve just noticed the bug, and I will keep it in mind when i revise my code. Tracing the source is however not a priority. |
